Intex Bangladesh 2024 – Concludes on a High Note, Ushering in a New Era of Textile Sourcing in Bangladesh

The 14th edition of Intex Bangladesh concluded on a high note, marking a significant shift in the textile sourcing landscape by uniting the global textile value chain on a single platform. Held from May 30th to June 1st, 2024, at ICCB in Dhaka, Intex Bangladesh witnessed a record turnout, connecting over 200 suppliers from 10 countries with over 5800 quality trade buyers & stakeholders from Bangladesh and international markets.

The three-day fair was spread across all 4 of ICCB’s exhibition halls showcasing innovative textiles, including functional, organic, and eco-friendly yarns, apparel fabrics, denim, clothing accessories, dyes, chemicals, as well as allied services.

Inaugurating the expo, Mr. Md. Nuruzzaman, Director General, Dept. of Textiles, Ministry of Textiles & Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh said, “Our government is taking multiple steps to propel RMG sector. Increasing share in global market is one of our major targets. A platform like Intex Bangladesh will certainly help to bring together expertise, experiences and the opportunity for exploring new business avenues which will help accelerate the growth of our industry.” While special guest Mr. Abdullah Hil Rakib, Vice President, BGMEA and MD, Team Group stated, “Product diversity is the key to expand our garments industry. To achieve the goal of reaching a $100 billion export market by 2030, regional cooperation is a prerequisite. We gain collective efficiencies through combined efforts and we thank Intex Bangladesh for making this possible through this platform.”

On the present at the occasion was Her Excellency Haznah Md. Hashim, High Commissioner of Malaysia, Mr. Mofazzal Hossain Pavel, President Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) & Managing Director, Dongyi Sourcing Ltd; Mr. K. Sakthivel, Vice Chairman, PDEXCIL, Mr. Manoj Patodia, Immediate Past President, TEXPROCIL and Mr. Chaitanaya Kumar Dey, Board Director of Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Serving as a global hub, Intex Bangladesh attracted leading domestic manufacturers, exporters, brands, and buying offices from Bangladesh, as well as international buyers from across the globe. Setting a new record, Intex Bangladesh 2024 featured the largest-ever Indian contingent with over 100 companies under the “Made in India Textiles Pavilion. Dedicated pavilions from China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other textile powerhouses further enriched the event.

Exhibitors appreciated the presence of high quality visitors comprising decision makers and heads of manufacturing, sourcing & designing teams. Over 5,800 visitors including leading domestic manufacturers, international buyers and industry experts from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Southeast Asia, the Americas, Europe and Middle East explored textile sourcing opportunities through the Intex platform.

Intex Bangladesh 2024 wasn’t just about business connections and transactions. The Interactive Business Forum (IBF) Seminar Series’ panel discussions provided valuable market insights. Industry leaders explored challenges and solutions for Bangladesh to achieve its $100 billion export target by 2030, while fostering discussions on sustainable practices. Well-attended by industry leaders and stakeholders, the sessions equipped participants with strategies to navigate the evolving global textile landscape.

The 14th Intex Bangladesh proved to be a resounding success for exhibitors, visitors, and the entire Bangladeshi RMG industry. By integrating the global textile value chain and fostering knowledge sharing, the event paved the way for a new era of collaborative and sustainable textile sourcing to empower Bangladesh to become a more relevant and future-proof textile manufacturing hub.
